Take me back to the Maldives…

So I’ve just come home from the most incredible trip to the Maldives and I feel like my feet haven’t quite hit the ground yet.

We were there to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday with another 6 couples (which was a miracle within itself to all be able to get away and leave our busy lives behind for 10 days). I thought it would never actually happen when we had to cancel it 3 years earlier due to COVID when we had booked to go for my 40th.

However, good things come to those who wait, and FINOLHU, Maldives did not disappoint.

It took 2 days and 3 planes to get there, but it was so worth it. My fear of flying was challenged especially when the last one was a small seaplane with no air con! I thought I was going to die at one point but when I finally opened my eyes and saw the perfectly round shaped white reefs scattered in the deep blue ocean, I was blown away. It was like god had blown bubbles into the water and made perfect circles in the ocean!

I found out later that the circles are the rims of volcanoes from 50million years ago that had now formed coral reefs. I was in awe of this beauty of this place.

It was, in my mind, the closest place to heaven on earth I’ve ever seen.

The water was a magical crystal blue and as was clear as glass. You could see the turtles, mantas, sharks and stingrays swimming past our rooms in the mornings, not to mention the regular dolphins and we even spotted a whale!

The sunrise and sunsets recharged me with such love and gratitude each day. Feeling so grateful to have been lucky enough to be there, to have been able to have spent such quality time with our life long friends, to have made such amazing memories that I’ll cherish forever.

I have felt so inspired by the rainbow colours of the skies, the blue green depths of the ocean, the texture of the white sands. My inner child was freed that week and it felt so good to see her again. I was seeing everything as if it were the first time.

I couldn’t stop talking about how clear the water was or how colorful the fish were… (and I clearly still can’t!)

I stopped over in Singapore and got my creative flow going by trying a fluid art activity with my girlfriend which entailed paint being flung thru the air. It was lots of fun and very messy! Playing with paint ‘just for fun’ was a good reminder to not take my work so seriously all the time!

Sometimes it’s fun just to have a play, and get paint in between your toes! (Or in my girlfriends case, not so much… 🤣🥰)

I am overwhelmed with ideas of how I’m going to put all the inspiration I have from the Maldives and Singapore onto some canvases. Finolhu was such a special and magical place. I can definitely feel this place is still in my heart and wanting to be shared with you all. I just need some time to process it all and see what comes out of me.

Watch this space…
